(DJ designing our new plumbing system)
We have made a lot of progress in the last two weeks. Eric has just about completed the repairs on the upper wooden deck. It has rained several times and no more leaks! Thank you Eric!!
DJ and Mary removed old piping from many areas of the ship. The ship had three water heaters, one that was bad and we removed it. The other two will be switched around for better efficiency. DJ has also been removing broken equipment and old plumbing systems from the engine room.
Repairing plugs, deck seams and sanding wood
Penny makes sure Eric wears his respirator.
Plumbing runs under stateroom deck
Cutting unused, old piping out from under utility room deck.
Forward bilge, almost five feet deep and lots of old piping to remove.
Old plumbing coming out from water heater compartment below stairwell.
DJ cutting old pvc piping in the utility room.
Out with the old and rusty heater. Poured some nasty stuff out of that tank!
Old inoperative heater and defunct expansion tank. The tank had a split diaphragm and the new system won't need one.
Old piping bagged and ready for the trash man.
Rotted wall tear out and old plumbing from the engine room.
The engine room before tearing out this section.
This area had two split system AC compressors, the expansion tank, filters, AC cooling circulation, fire pump and misc unused piping. All getting removed, replaced, rebuilt and better organized.
First steps of removal.
DJ working on the water filter. The system needed a bleach flushing.
Temporary water filter hook-up.
Getting further along in the tearout.
DJ flush grinding aluminum
Wow a lot of work! Good job, DJ, Mary and Eric (and Penny). :) my prayers go with you, God bless always.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie!!
DeleteWow, didn't anyone take out old plumbing before installing new? Seems previous owners took the easy way, and not the smartest way. Good job on "out with the bad, in with the new"!
ReplyDeleteThere were several owners before us and it seems that whoever each owner hired to work on the ship, took a lot of short-cuts over the years. A vast array of cobbled together pieces, drilling new through-holes when others were available for use, incorrect wiring, etc... But its all being fixed and simplified as we prepare the ship for service!
