Progress Update: October 27th

(Eric restoring damaged dresser top)

Lots of great progress the last two weeks! The second guest cabin is 95% completed. The closet behind the door still needs some plumbing removal, a false back and new floor, shelving and final coat of paint.
There is now lighting in both cabins, the hallway and utility room. Lights for the shop and the head will hopefully be installed the end of November.
More plumbing progress has been made for the water heaters and the goal is to possibly have the guest head, shower and sink plumbed by the end of November as well.
There are two 750 gallon water tanks built into the ship. One aft and one forward. DJ removed the cover plates and they will be drained, coarse sanded and painted. This particular work on the water tanks will take some time as it is a difficult and rather nasty job.

The wiring for each light is along the overhead in order to provide access. Eric is building wooden trim to cover each one.

Progress Update: October 12th

(Eric making overhead patterns)

Progress is steady but slowed a bit due to Eric taking a side job for our personal support. We also lost a few days preparing for Hurricane Nate which switched tracks in the final hours leading to landfall. Originally, it was supposed to go right over us!

Eric has built the overhead in the second forward guest cabin and is in the final stages of painting the panels. He also built an A/C vent box for the cabin as well as several special switch plates for the newly installed light switches for the LED fixtures in the hallway, utility room, and first guest cabin. So nice to not be on extension cords and work lights anymore. Thank you DJ!

Progress Update: September 21st

(Eric installing overhead trim)

The last few weeks have been very busy! The forward guest head is almost completed, new sump pumps have been installed in the bilge, old plumbing removed in several places and new wiring run for the pumps. The manifolds, pumps and wiring backbone of the fresh water system is now in place and ready for the next phase of the plumbing project which entails installing new connections to fixtures.

Work has also resumed in the Captains cabin now that its a touch cooler. Eric will continue finishing up projects up forward but will also begin work on the captains cabin and Navigation helm.

A few side projects continue which involve cleaning recycled parts, cleaning and sorting two large bins of wire and sorting fasteners. All necessary jobs.

Sanding the lower cabinets in the forward head.

Ready to prime but first a base needs to be built around the plumbing.

 Installing cleats for the base.

Building the cabinet base. Like most boat work it's all angles and tapers.

New ceiling for the forward head.

Installing trim in the forward head.
Overhead up, A/C vent installed and new trim ready to be primed.

Priming the cabinet interiors.
Primed and painted, beautiful job Eric!

Painting the forward head.

We salvaged the doors and drawers for the forward head.
Pretty nasty from the fire.

Eric sanding the doors

Eric sanding the black, smoke stained drawers.
They came out great.

Eric sanded and polished the smoke-stained solid surface counter top. Its a beautiful pale blue!

Caulking seams in the forward head.

Getting ready to install the box that the pumps will be mounted on in the aft state room section. Makes for very accessible access!
Running new wire for the pumps.

The new wire harness ready to be run.

 Ready to be hooked up!
The old plumbing in the background will be going away.

 DJ does beautiful work!

 DJ working on plumbing.

The new fresh water supply manifold ready to be installed. This is the water heater closet and our current 10 gallon water heater will be temporarily installed here.
More plumbing progress in the engine room. The backbone of the new potable water system going together.

Removing wall paper in the captains cabin.

Removing old FRP shower panels in the captains cabin.
This job was a bear!!

Eric cleaning up and polishing smoke damaged LED lights that will be going on the bridge.

 Mary sorting fasteners.

Polishing smoke-stained drawer pulls.

Tool storage underneath the guest stateroom bed. We have a lot of old fashioned, non electric woodworking tools that will be going with us from Eric's old boat building days.
